Our Story

About the Founder: Andrew Baird

I am a lifelong musician, educator and advocate for the power of music to transform culture and to bring people together. I was born in Houston and moved to Austin as a young child. I studied music at Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory in Boston, and later Hunter College in New York City. I had the privilege of making music my career, and now, after years of performing and teaching in New York City, I’ve returned home to create a vibrant community for musicians of all ages and ability levels.

 Empowering Through Music

Our Vision

The vision behind The Music Academy of Austin is simple: to provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where musicians of all levels can thrive. From beginner lessons to advanced performance preparation, we offer music education in a variety of instruments, mediums, and musical genres. Our focus is not only on technical skill but also on fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression.

Whether it’s through private lessons, group classes, workshops, or performance and recording opportunities, our mission is to build a community of musicians who are as passionate about the process of learning as they are about the music itself.

Join Our Community

I am excited to offer a space with an emphasis on community, and the power of music. Together, we’ll make music, learn together, and inspire each other to reach new heights. We look forward to meeting you and helping you discover the joy and transformation that music can bring to your life.

A Personal Commitment to Every Student

I believe in the power of music to change lives. Within our school community, our approach is rooted in patience, understanding, and encouragement. We strive to help every student find their own unique voice and connect with the music in a way that feels personal and meaningful. Music is a journey, and we are honored to be a part of yours.

At The Music Academy of Austin, we are dedicated to offering an experience that goes beyond just learning notes and rhythms. It’s about discovering the joy of playing, creating, and sharing music with others. Whether you’re a child, a teenager, an adult, or a senior, we are here to guide you on your musical journey.
